This cue was auctioned on Saturday, June 28, 2008 for $5,688.89.00. If my memory serves me correctly he beat a Taiwanese man by only one U. S. penny!
I made another cue like this (twins). the other cue weighs 19.10 ounces and is my personal cue now.
Weight: 19.00 ounces. This cue is ebony
with hard-rock maple under the wrap and is not cored. Lets
see you cue makers figure out how I kept the weight down
so low for a 63 inch ebony cue using all hard-woods.
The veneers are outside toward inside are: Red, ebony, red
and the main splice is madrone burl.
This ebony cue has 6 points, three high and
three low. Same for the butt sleeve.
Joint pin: Aircraft aluminum 3/8-10 threaded
Joint: Full-capped ivory joint
Length: 63 inches Cue butt 31.5 inches long and old-growth
shafts the same length
Wrap: One-piece brown ostrich-print
Under the wrap (above) is
hard-rock maple
All black rings are double
linen phenolic (the most expensive) and the white and green
rings are ivorine and malachite. Difficult to get the malachite
into the hard ivorine.
The ebony butt-sleeve has three high spliced points and
three low. Same for the forearm (prong).
The veneers are outside toward inside are: Red, ebony, red
and the main splice is madrone burl.
Every point, counting veneers, amount to 48 points and all 48 are exactly even. Not easy to do at all.
